Introduction

Inspired by Shinji Ishii’s short story, this whimsical musical follows Giuseppe, a man powered by fleeting obsessions. One day, he’s singing arias, and the next, he’s collecting insects or mastering embroidery with feverish focus. Every new fascination feels like everything—until the next one comes along. His curiosity keeps him in motion, never still long enough for anything to last. Then he meets Pechka, a quiet balloon seller from a distant land, carrying a lingering sadness. For the first time, he doesn’t want to chase the next thing. With his patchwork of odd talents, bursts of music, and a series of heartfelt (if clumsy) surprises, he sets out to brighten her world. Along the way, he may finally discover something he doesn’t want to leave behind.

TAKAHASHI Wataru

He joined Shin-Ei Animation in 1997, working as an art director and writer on numerous projects before transitioning to directing. He has since directed a series of films in the Crayon Shinchan franchise, including Robot Dad Strikes Back, The Great Assault on Dreamy World, and Kung Fu Boys – Ramen Rebellion. Known for blending humor, action, and heartfelt storytelling, he has played a key role in the franchise’s continued success.
