Introduction

The story begins in the Central Prison in the capital of Amestris. A prisoner nearing the end of his sentence breaks out of the prison. Edward and his younger brother Alphonse, who are intrigued by the powerful alchemy wielded by the man – Melvin Voyager – follow in his footsteps and head west to the border with the great nation of Crete. The place they reach is the city of Table City, which is surrounded by a huge cliff. In this place, which was once called ‘Milos’, the two of them meet a girl called Julia. Guided by her words, Ed and his brother learn about the bloodstained history hidden in this place… .

Director

Kazuya Murata

Born in Osaka in 1964, he joined Studio Ghibli in 1989 before moving to Pastel, the production studio behind the TV anime Kenyuu Densetsu YAIBA (Legend of the Sword YAIBA). In 1995, he joined the animation studio OLM and made his directorial debut with the OVA Kendo Rage. Since then, he has worked extensively as both an animation director and director on numerous productions.

After leaving OLM, he pursued a freelance career. His major works include Planetes (director), Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven (director), and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (assistant director). He made his theatrical anime directorial debut with Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (2011), followed by his first TV anime as chief director, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (2013).
