Introduction

At the height of her fame, Mima Kirigoe suddenly quits her idol group to pursue a career in acting. Contrary to her hope, offers she gets are involving provocative photo shoots and intense drama scenes. Overwhelmed by the abrupt changes in her life, Mima begins to feel lost. Then, a series of murders strikes, targeting people connected to her work. Meanwhile, angry fans bombard her with messages calling her a “traitor.” Pushed to her limit, Mima is confronted by a shocking sight: another Mima. Has she gone mad? Is this all a dream? Or could she herself be the murderer? As the boundary between reality and illusion crumbles, Mima is drawn into a spiral of doubt and fear. What is the true identity of the other Mima she has seen…?

Director

Satoshi Kon

Born in Hokkaido in 1963, he graduated from Musashino Art University in Visual Communication Design. He authored the manga “Tropic of the Sea” in 1990 and “World Apartment Horror” in 1991, both published by Kodansha. He transitioned to the animation world and made his feature film debut as a director with “Perfect Blue”. He continued on with acclaimed original films “Millennium Actress” in 2002, “Tokyo Godfathers” in 2003 and the TV series “Paranoia Agent” in 2004. He also released “Paprika” based on a novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui in 2006. His short animation “Ohayo” was aired on NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) in 2007. He passed away from pancreas cancer at the age of 46 on August 24, 2010.
