まだ太古から続く霊的な気配がそこかしこに残っていた100年前の日本。大地や森には原初の生命体である「蟲」が棲み、ときに人と接して様々な怪異現象をもたらした。「蟲師」とは蟲の命の源を探りながら怪異の謎を解き、人々を癒す能力を持つ者。そのひとりであるギンコは蟲を引き寄せる体質のため、今も果てしない旅を続けている。そんな彼がある事件をきっかけに蟲に冒されてしまう。蟲に憑かれたギンコはやがて自分の意外な秘密に直面する……。

One hundred years ago in Japan, there were still spiritual signs here and there that had persisted since prehistoric times. At that time, ‘Mushi-蟲-‘ inhabited the earth and forests in the primordial life forms. They sometimes came into contact with people and caused a number of mysterious things. “Mushishi-蟲師-” are those with the ability to heal people by searching for the source of Mushi life and solving the mysteries of the strange. One of them, Ginko, has a natural predisposition that attracts Mushi. He continues his endless journey. One incident leads him to be invaded by Mushi, and Ginko, haunted by Mushi, soon confronted with an unexpected secret about himself. ……
