ある日、父の形見の鉱石ラジオから聴こえてきた不思議な唄。
その唄を忘れられない少女アスナは、地下世界アガルタから来たという少年シュンに出会う。2人は心を通わせるも、少年は突然姿を消してしまう。「もう一度あの人に会いたい」そう願うアスナの前にシュンと瓜二つの少年シンと、妻との再会を切望しアガルタを探す教師モリサキが現れる。
そこに開かれるアガルタへの扉。3人はそれぞれの想いを胸に、伝説の地へ旅に出る―。

1973年生まれ、長野県出身。2002年、個人制作の短編作品『ほしのこえ』で商業デビュー。その後『雲のむこう、約束の場所』（04年）『秒速5センチメートル』（07年）『星を追う子ども』（11年）『言の葉の庭』（13年）を発表。2016年公開の『君の名は。』は社会現象を巻き起こす大ヒットとなり、2019年公開の『天気の子』も同年の国内興行収入1位を記録した。2022年11月、全世界待望の最新作『すずめの戸締まり』が公開。
Born 1973 in Nagano, Japan, Shinkai made his commercial debut in 2002 with his personal short film "Voices of a Distant Star". He has since released "The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2004)", "5cm per Second (2007)", "Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below (2011)" and "The Garden of Words (2013)." "Your Name." released in 2016 was a social phenomenon and a blockbuster hit, and "Weathering with You" released in 2019 was the number one film at the domestic box office that year. "In November 2022, Suzume, his latest film, which is highly anticipated worldwide, will be released."
